Suggested Route
Start at the base of Mehrangarh Fort and work downhill through the blue lanes toward Sardar Market and the clock tower. Going downhill rather than up keeps the walk comfortable, and finishing at the market gives you a natural point to stop for lunch or shopping.
Independent Walk vs. Guided Walk
The main lanes near the fort are straightforward to navigate independently. Further into the old city, it becomes a genuine maze, and a local guide adds real value — not for safety so much as for pointing out the small temples, workshops and architectural details that are easy to walk straight past.
